Day 13 March 28, 2020 “Diner Saturday”
I am calling this post, Diner Saturday. In America, a Saturday morning is not complete without a trip to a greasy spoon for a hot plate of eggs, bacon, ham, grits, toast or biscuits, coffee and orange juice.
Perhaps not all on one plate or in one serving, but you get the picture. As the Stay-at-Home order and the restaurant partial closures reach Day 13 (by this blogs count) we are slowly coming to terms with the simple things that we take for granted. For most people, eating out is one of them.
The Saturday morning breakfast sit-down is a time and place to review the past week and plan the next one.
I took a late morning drive through the southeast part of town, stopping at some of the more well known breakfast, lunch and diner haunts like Tel-Wink Grill, Dinner Bell, Tel-Wink Grill, Franks, Aranda’s, House of Pies and the list goes on.
I do not think the Tel-Wink Grill parking lot has ever been completely empty since Harvey. If anyone knows the owner, call him and tell him that now is a good time to fix that pothole littered parking lot!
It is safe to say that people are now learning to cook. They are taking that cookware out of mothballs. The kitchen has the aroma of home.
