Day 1 March 16, 2020 “Houston is Closed Until Further Notice”

To me this photo symbolizes all the closures affecting the residents of Houston and around the country. The cloudy skies add to the mood of gloom and oppression. 

This gate is one of my favorite items to photograph. It is located on Center St., off of Washington Ave. in the historic 1st Ward. It appears to keep trespassers out of an old parking lot. I first came across this fence many months ago when I was taking a short cut down Center to avoid traffic on Washington. 

After taking the shot of the fence I noticed this guy, pictured below, sitting all alone in another parking lot directly across the street. I decided to walk behind him to get this shot. It represents what many people went through on this, the first days of facility closures. All dressed, shaved and bathed and No Place To Go.
